The first hike most people do when they get to Banff is Tunnel. It’s a pretty basic little hike with maybe 15 minutes of actual switchbacks, and the rest is just an enjoyable walk up the mountain. Considering it’s the smallest and quickest hike the views do not disappoint in the slightest either. It truly makes for one of the nicer ways to spend an afternoon, but like everything in this area you need to remember to take your goddamn mozzie repellant. These bastards are merciless, and you will truly regret everything if you forget. Do… not… forget…
My first hike up Tunnel was with my first permanent friend (All the previous ones were friends who had to move on) in Banff, Bronnie “The terror” Findlay. We met at the induction of my first job here in town, and unlike the job she stuck around. She’s a skilled photographer so it made perfect sense to drag her up the hill with me and snap some decent shots – we weren’t disappointed.
Here are some of the shots I took:
And of course some of hers:
Aside from the swarms of buzzing pests it was a pretty fun encounter. Sun sets, a nice breeze, and various tunes from the Lumineers helped make this the wonderful experience it was.
Hope to see you there!
