It’s not for me,
This world they’ve built,
A chain around my ankles,
Tied to any one place,
I wasn’t there when the rules were written,
And 9 to 5 sounds like a punishment,
I’m told to accept the gift of time off,
As if it’s my only option,
In this life of mine,
Do this, be here, say that,
No!
I want to wander my own path,
Get lost in my own mistakes,
And learn through each experience.
I want to feel the weight of the straps on my back,
The sun on my face,
And the beauty of somewhere new seeping into my skin.
To see and feel with those who care,
A cultural camouflage,
As I adapt and discover,
This is the future I see for myself,
And it begins tonight.
