It’s not for me,
This world they’ve built,
A chain around my ankles,
Tied to any one place,
I wasn’t there when the rules were written,
And 9 to 5 sounds like a punishment,
I’m told to accept the gift of time off,
As if it’s my only option,
In this life of mine,
Do this, be here, say that,
No!
I want to wander my own path,
Get lost in my own mistakes,
And learn through each experience.
I want to feel the weight of the straps on my back,
The sun on my face,
And the beauty of somewhere new seeping into my skin.
To see and feel with those who care,
A cultural camouflage,
As I adapt and discover,
This is the future I see for myself,
And it begins tonight.

I think this type of writing is very creative and needs a decisive confidence. I would find it difficult to choose the correct words when trying to create exact picture or emotion. For example you ended with tonight instead of now or today, I would get stuck deciding on which word is better. Beautiful illustration also for the page.

Wow! So beautiful and I can identify with your feelings so much! Will be graduating soon and definitely don’t want to work 9-5 in a job I might not even actually like, and as you said being stuck in one place
Can’t wait to see how you are going to solve this issue 🙂

Your desire to be free and be able to enjoy the nature as you go is so beautiful. The system we’re in is the product of the modern culture developed in the last so many hundred years. I think you still can do what you want to do. One of my nephews and his friends went backpacking without too much money in the pocket. I don’t know how long they had done that. They stopped on the way to find work when they need money. They travel from Hong Kong throughout China, then to Russia, and went all over Europe. It must have been quite an adventure to him!
